You were hired because someone believed you would produce more value for the organization than you would cost it. This is a very simple definition of your commercial value.
You have probably never considered your value to an employer in this manner before, but the fact remains that if an employer can find someone who does what you do as well as you do it, and for less money, then your commercial value is not as high as you might think it is. The QTNT (Quotient) is the only tool available to you to calculate your commercial value for yourself as well as to share with your employer.
Every worker the world over has commercial value. It impacts where you work, how well you are paid, and how long you might be on the job.
You remain valuable to a company, and, therefore, employed, when your performance continues to surpass your portion of the company’s costs in you. This is called Return on Investment (ROI). As an employee, you are that investment. Understand, too, that the more you are paid, the more value you are proportionally expected to deliver, which, of course, makes sense.
